"FM is the 'silent syndrome', whereby individuals look healthy, but often feel very unwell. People with FM need to break the silence."

Federal Advocacy by FM-CFS Canada

News!
On December 6th, 2006, Federal Conservative Member of Parliament Rick Dykstra asked the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health, based on the information provided by FM-CFS Canada, to put Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome on their agenda.

Background:
FM-CFS Canada's Chairman David Mann and Executive Director John Ernst met with MP Dykstra for an hour in his Parliamentary office, late spring, and we've continued to provide him with research information, videos, and relevant news items to him.

Part of a larger Federal campaign
As part of our Federal awareness building campaign, we've met with and delivered educational materials to Health Canada officials. We've worked to raise awareness among Cabinet Ministers (Finance - as the loser of tax revenue, Human Resources and Social Development - as the payer of CPP LTD, and Public Works and Government Services - as the country's largest employer and one not allowed to fire disabled employees) - all of them referring the matter to Health Canada, to whom we've written to as well.
